2020 National Winner
Summary

After an intense six-month accelerator program of mentorship, business training and networking with investors and partners, Coreshell Technologies of Berkley, Calif., is this year’s winner of Cleantech Open’s U.S. National Prize.

The prize includes a $50,000 SAFE note and an opportunity to participate in Cleantech Open’s European partner’s event ChangeNOW Summit in Paris in 2021.

More than 100 companies from Cleantech Open’s 2020 accelerator cohort participated in regional competitions across the US, and 20 finalists were picked to compete on the national level.

The final six start-ups were judged in a “Shark-tank”-style competition, and the winners were announced at Cleantech Open’s flagship annual event, the Global Forum, held virtually on Friday, October 23.

“For the last 15 years, we have helped over 1,700 entrepreneurs develop their business skills and network to bring their technical innovations to commercial viability."

"We’re excited to see Coreshell Technologies breakthrough tech advance electric transportation and renewable energy storage,” said Executive Director, Ken Hayes at Cleantech Open. “Congratulations to the team!”

Coreshell Technologies is accelerating the transition to electric transportation and renewable energy by solving the key degradation issue in all rechargeable batteries.

Their nanolayer thin-film coating is uniquely capable of seamlessly fitting into existing manufacturing while producing the step change needed in the capacity, safety, and cost of batteries.

Coreshell Technologies’ CEO & Co-Founder, Jonathan Tan, accepted the prize remotely while on honeymoon: “Cleantech Open has been an incredible journey. We’d like to thank our Mentor Jim Tietz, and the team at Cleantech Open for their support throughout the accelerator."
