Cleantech Open enters partnership with The Carbon Almanac, Seth Godin’s latest collaboration project

Seth Godin, the marketing expert, best-selling author, and entrepreneur, will be a headline speaker at CTO’s upcoming National Academy, the virtual kick-off event of our 2022 accelerator program, on June 2. Joining live via Zoom, he’ll talk about the importance of clear, fact-based communications and marketing when fighting climate change.

Ken Hayes, executive director of Cleantech Open, said: “We’re extremely excited and grateful to have Seth join us as keynote speaker at our National Academy. The Carbon Almanac is an excellent new example of how to break down complex problems and technologies into digestible chunks of information and established facts, and that’s exactly what the world - including our cleantech founders - need to do if we want to save this planet.”

Seth Godin is the Founding Editor of The Carbon Almanac project and author of 20 international bestsellers that have changed the way people think about work and have been translated into 38 languages. He writes the most popular marketing blog in the world and speaks to audiences around the world. He is the founder of the altMBA, Squidoo, the former VP of Direct Marketing at Yahoo!, and the founder of Yoyodyne.

The CTO National Academy is a three-day online symposium that marks the beginning of this year’s accelerator program, taking place from June 1 - 3, 2022. The event features keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops with speakers from the Department of Energy, NYSERDA, finance, legal and marketing firms. It’ll be attended by approx. 250 entrepreneurs representing over 120 startups, in addition to 100 to 200 business mentors.

This speaking engagement is part of a wider collaboration between The Carbon Almanac and Cleantech Open which will see CTO becoming a non-profit community partner of The Carbon Almanac and both organizations supporting each other through mutual promotion and sharing content. Initially, all participating companies in the 2022 Cleantech Open accelerator will receive a complimentary copy of The Carbon Almanac.

A zero-profit venture, The Carbon Almanac is a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between hundreds of writers, researchers, thinkers, and illustrators, with a foreword by founding editor Seth Godin. The book focuses on what we know, what has come before, and what might happen next. Drawing on over 1,000 data points, the book uses cartoons, quotes, illustrations, tables, histories, and articles to lay out carbon’s impact on our food system, ocean acidity, agriculture, energy, biodiversity, extreme weather events, the economy, human health, and best and worst-case scenarios.

Visually engaging and built to share, The Carbon Almanac is the definitive source for facts and the basis for a global movement to fight climate change.  The Carbon Almanac will be published in June 2022 and can be pre-ordered.
